Baked French Toast with Maple Praline Topping


1 loaf rustic French bread
8 eggs
2 C milk
1 C heavy cream
4-inches of scraped Vanilla Bean or 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
¼ t Cinnamon
¼ t Nutmeg
1/8 t salt


2 T Maple Syrup
½ t Cinnamon
½ t Nutmeg

Day 1:
  1. Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan. Slice bread into about 20 1-inch slices.
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Whisk ingredients together until combined but not frothy
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture and place in the pan. Create two rows; there will be some over lapping
  4. Pour extra egg mixture over the bread
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Day two:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Make topping by mixing all ingredients in a medium bowl
  3. Spread evenly over the French toast and bake for 40 minutes or until golden
