Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks

There is much for us to be thankful for this year.  My greatest thanks is that my husband is with me after a minor heart attack last week.  The wake up call saved his life and I am so grateful for that.  I am also grateful for the health of my children and grandchildren, and the rest of my family.  I am thankful for the food we have to eat, the warm house we live in, my hot shower when I need it, my ability to grow and sell my flowers and for the customers that buy them.  I am thankful for my beautiful farm and the animals I love as well as the plants.  I am thankful that I can give to others less fortunate than myself and family.  Giving is an honor, a privilege, and a joy.

Flowers for Food

Normally our flower farm lies dormant in the winter, like the flowers.  This year, however, we are starting a non profit organization called Flowers for Food the purpose of which is to sell Christmas flowers and greens arrangements and use the money to donate to local food banks and international organizations like Oxfam.  We will offer different sizes with different candle colors for various price points.  I am hoping to get some garden clubs and church groups interested in doing a workshop to raise even more funds for food.  I think this idea could be used by many people even if it were just a portion of profits or a set number of pieces.  I will be adding information to my website as soon as possible but if anyone has questions please email us.
