It's easy to focus on giving thanks during this season. But what about the rest of the year? As we gather our friends and families around us this holiday season, let's not forget that an attitude of gratitude is something to cultivate all year long.

 I will be thanking all the local and regional growers that provide my holiday meals. I'll even be thankful for them at the cookie exchanges I'll attend this year. With every bite, I will picture my farmer friends in my mind and send them good wishes.

The ability to do this is one of the best things about eating as close to home as you possibly can. Please join me in thanking our wonderful local farmers, ranchers and manufacturers, wherever you live, this year and all year next year.
