A visit to the Chez this week will reveal a groaning table of bounty at the back of the dining room... Loaded with winter squash, potatoes, garlic, onions and sweet potatoes, it mirrors the big bins in the bottom of our commercial refrigerator filled with beets, carrots, cabbages and celeriac.
In the back pantry there're bags of crabapples, more potatoes and winter squash.
Time to tuck in for winter. The CSAs are over and local farmers have plowed in their fields.
And the menu reflects the food at hand. So stop in today for some potato soup, some wintersquash turnovers, or a hearty lamb stew with carrots and garlic.
