Hot Summer Lazy Days

End of June and the heat is setting in.  I got both guard dogs shaved down.  Scooter, king of the goats, got the full shaving, and I think he appreciates it.  This is the first year he has been fully shaved and he wasn't pleased with the process.  Moby, king of the sheep, got a milder version of the shaving.

I have St. Croix sheep, a hair breed which sheds it's hair in Feb./March and look freshly shorn all summer.  And white!  They drive me crazy in the summer.  They have shelters and shade in the pastures but prefer to lie in the sun, all day long.

Both dogs spend thier days watching their charges from the shade, hate to say it but the goats seem to have more sense than the sheep.

The pigs are from 150 to 225 lbs. right now and they spend a great deal of time rolling in mud, and sleeping in the shade too.
