Woke up to snow & slush today! Poor sheep, ducks, chickens & peacocks all stuffed in the barn watching sleet and rain drip off the roof. All the rams are in rut of course with noses stuffed between the stall rails grumbling sweet nothings to the ewes next door. I'll probably go down to feed tonight and find half of the barn knocked flat. So there they sit till the rain stops. But I, on the otherhand, have started up the first wood fire of the season, the smell of burning logs and pumpkin pie in the oven downstairs fills the house air. What an exciting time is to be had as the dark days of Winter Solstice approach when all the time in the world can once again be dedicated to artistic works. Unrolling all my fleeces ,combing wool on viking combs ( my personal moment of Zen) and then spinning in the grease while dreaming up my next felting or knitting project.
I have enother exciting winter's project that I can't wait to begin. I've decided to train Shaun The Sheep , my big cormo/blueface cross, to become a driving cart sheep for my new grandaughter. By the time little V is 4 or 5 she'll be running around town in a mini buckboard! Or ar least thats the plan. I'm ordering a leather pulling harness today.
