The news about blueberries just keeps getting better and
better. Earlier this year a University
of Michigan study revealed
that the darkly pigmented fruit helps reduce the waistline, lower cholesterol,
and high blood sugar.
University of Michigan staff put some overweight rats on a high fat diet and
another group of equally obese rats on a low fat diet enhanced with freeze-dried
blueberry powder. After a 3 month period the low and high fat groups were
compared. The rats on the blueberry enhanced diet lost belly fat, and their cholesterol
and harmful triglyceride levels declined. Their blood sugar levels improved too
