You are buying the entire fleece from one of our sheep (includes aprox. 6 -12 months of wool growth). The sheep are sheared on farm by a professional shearer.
The sheep are rinsed first, in this way, the fleeces are relatively clean. However, this wool is still considered "raw" and must be washed before being used. Use the locks for crafts, or card it for spinning or felting projects
Bluefaced Leicesters have a long, lustrous fleece, low lanolin, and a micron count between 25-35, meaning their wool is extremely soft, especially for a long wool. This makes it ideal for hand spinning.
Fleeces don't always get posted to Local Harvest right away, so email us to check availability.
