Briarwoods Farm is a fifth-generation family farm that produces naturally-grown fruit (including strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries), vegetables, and herbs. Small batches of jams, jellies, and other fruit products (including apple butter from our ancient apple trees) and fresh eggs are also available upon occasion. Sorry, no pick-your-own.
New for 2013 - maruba santoh, tatsoi, and edamame!
Celebrating 100 years April 2013!
We are participating on a weekly basis in the East Granby Farmer's Market, 3 Turkey Hills Road (Rte 20) East Granby CT on Wednesdays from 3pm til 6pm. I am also blogging on the Granby-East Granby Patch, will try to let everyone know whether I will be at market that week.
Due to the unusual weather, many crops have been delayed and harvests have been reduced, but we're hoping the rain will diminish to reasonable levels and that we'll have squash and cucumbers in July, "early" tomatoes in August, and late-season tomatoes and peppers in September. Market ends Sept 25, but you can always email or call after that for availability (if the weather stays fine we'll have peppers and tomatoes into October).
We have been picking strawberries for more than 2 weeks (and making lots of strawberry jam!), they are winding down but the blueberries and raspberries are just starting to come in. The lettuce was off to a bit of a slow start (after having the seed get washed out twice) but the arugula, kale, tatsoi and bok choy (maruba santoh) are doing well as is the oregano and we will be bringing a mix to market on July 3.
In the cul de sac at intersection of Partridge Lane and Briarwood Road, Barkhamsted. Hours vary - look for signs or call for availability.
Wholesale customers welcome - please call 860-325-2011 to discuss available produce and pricing. Produce only, no jams and jellies, sorry.
