We grow the broadleaf sage as a natural flavor enchancer for meats, and sauces. We also use it dried as a smudge stick. It can also be used medicinally as a digestive treatment. These plants are two years young, and grown by seed here on the farm. They have been grown naturally, and with the use of only natural fertilzers. We use no chemical pesticides,fertilizers or herbicides on the farm.
The broadleaf sage grows best in full sun, and well drained soil. It does not like to be watered, and leaving it to natural rainfall only is best.It is an easy perrenial to grow, and requires little to no care. It should be cut regularly to allow the plant to branch out. A good trim in the fall provides for healthy sring growth.
Tha broadleaf sage grows up to 2 1/2 feet tall. It grows upright on sturdy stems, and does not need to be staked. It has a strong earthy scent, and can be easily dried. Each order will contain one healthy plant with planting instructions.
Plants will be shipped in spring in 2x4 inch pots depending on how early in the season. They will be shipped as bare root plants in late summer, and into late fall. In both cases they should be planted as soon as possible, because they are live plants! All plants are shipped the day they are dug.
