Burdock Root Arctium lappa The burdocks are sometimes confused with the cockleburs (genus Xanthium) and rhubarb (genus Rheum).
Used as a "blood purifier" to clear the bloodstream of toxins; as a diuretic (helping rid the body of excess water by increasing urine output); for kidney stones and to treat liver conditions. Burdock root reduces mutagenic actions and protects against the toxicity of artificial food colorings.
Externally burdock root is used as a topical remedy for skin problems such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis. Also for treating slow healing wounds.
From my research, burdock root appears to have no side effects for the majority of those using it.
Buy inexpensive herbs , you get cheap quality. The person selling them may not even be growing or processing them ! Any root herb such as burdock, nettle, dandelion and chicory is a lot of work. Just digging the stuff is hard at times! Then there is the cleaning the dirt off, which is not just a matter of giving it a rinse, you have to really scrub it off! Then there is the roasting of the herb. Some take longer than others and you have to know when the root is ready. Otherwise, it can still be damp inside and eventually get moldy and thus all your work is ruined. Some herbs have to be cut . Then there is another drying session, before you can safely store it. So, as you see, there is more to it than just going out and cutting and then drying like one would do with mints

For the most part unless mentioned otherwise, each tea bag will make 2 cups of tea; one ounce of just an herb is about a sandwich bag, and sometimes a little more. If an ounce of herb tea it would be about 1/2 a sandwich bag. If it is a root herb such as burdock root it is heavier, thus an ounce would be about a quarter of a sandwich bag. Comfrey, plantain and nettle leaves would be in a quart size bag.
