Casey Farm is a 300-acre historic farm located on the west passage of Narragansett Bay. Owned by Historic New England, it is a working farm raising vegetables, small fruits, herbs, and flowers for a 150-member Community Supported Agriculture program. The farm is home to flocks of heritage-breed chickens and turkeys, 2 happy pigs, 4 ducks, and 2 bunnies. Casey Farm hosts the Coastal Growers' Farmers' Market on Saturdays in the summer from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and is open for guided tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m to 5 p.m.(last tour starts 4 p.m.), and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (last tour begins 1 p.m.) June 1 through October 15. Casey Farm holds an annual plant sale selling seedlings for the garden on a Saturday in May.
On Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Casey Farm will hold its annual spring seedling sale. Start your culinary garden this spring with Rhode Island certified organic vegetable, fruit and herb seedlings. Other items for sale include Vermont maple syrup, coffee and fresh bakery items. Tours of the museum and grounds, as well as children's activities makes this a fun event for the entire family. This event is free and Historic New England members receive a 10% discount on all seedlings.
