Certified Farmers Market at Old Town La Quinta

BACK IN SWING FOR 2010-2011 SEASON on September 26th The Certified Farmers Market at Old Town La Quinta featuring fresh produce and fruit grown by local farmers is officially open.

The market is a program of the Palm Springs Cultural Center and will be hosted locally by Old Town La Quinta and the City of La Quinta.

The market in La Quinta will be open every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Old Town La Quinta. Vendors offering fresh vegetables and fruit (no spray and organic), cut flowers, honey, eggs, nuts, herbs, bread, cheese and plants. A Chef booth will feature cooking demonstrations and recipes using fresh produce from the Market and will be a featured event weekly. Weekly musical entertainment will provide a lively backdrop while shoppers peruse the wide selection of produce, products, plants and flowers.

A Certified Farmers Market is approved and certified by the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Most of the vendors at the market will offer no spray and chemical-free products, plus some organic farm produce.

The farmers and vendors are regionally-based -- most within 100 miles of the Coachella Valley -- so the food is incredibly fresh. Our mission is to help maintain the viability of these farms by supporting the local purchase of home-grown products.

Certified Farmers Markets are weekly community events sponsored by the Palm Springs Cultural Center, a non-profit organization established to advance both access to and enjoyment of a broad range of cultural arts in the Coachella Valley. It does so by serving as an engine to foster new activities and connections that create synergies benefiting both people and communities.

I was disappointed by this farmer's market. La Quinta really needs something like this, but the one time I went there the produce looked terrible and the prices same or mostly higher than local stores.... [more]

We love the farmers and the products. Truly we are missing the great organic veggies and fruits that keep us healthy during the time the market is here, and now we are searching for the same quality.... [more]

They carry organic and very fresh produce, fruits, olive oils, cheeses, and goodies. All vendors are very friendly. If you have a question about their product, they will give you the very best and truest answer.
