Our Jacob wool is processed at a local fiber mill that takes great pride in creating a wonderful product. They are always impressed with how clean and nice our fiber is. This fiber is being sold as a batt and is 4 oz. Jacob sheep grow a medium grade wool (24-33 Microns, Bradford count 44-56s, demi-luster), with an open character and a soft springy handle. A batt may be used for wet felting or needle felting, spinning, locker hooking or any fiber art where roving is used. You can easily tear the batt into strips so it is like roving. Batts are great for felting flat work, it is wider so some spreading of the fibers is already done.
Kenleigh Acres is located in the beautiful Willamette Valley. We have a flock of 50 Registered Jacob Sheep - that we raise for breeding stock, fleece/fiber, unique lawn mowers, and natural locker lamb. The Jacob is a rare breed listed by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC). Our lambs are born and raised on Oregon's lush green pastures, the sheep have continuous and unconfined access throughout their lives. Jacob fleeces are light and open, and a delight for handspinners. Due to the spotting, the wool can be spun into a complete spectrum from white through gray/lilac to black. Our fleeces are exceptionally clean and can be requested by name. Please visit our website for pictures of our individual sheep. Farm visits are always welcome!
