Making Maple Syrup Clinic

Have you ever wanted to know more about the process of making natural maple syrup? Do you have maple trees on your property and you want to know how to tap them? Well, here's your chance! The Meuer Farm in Chilton, WI is again offering their, "Hands On Making Maple Syrup" clinic that you can attend on either Friday, March 7th or Saturday, March 8th! Each clinic will run from 10 am. to 3 pm. each day and lunch is included. The Meuers say that over the past years so many people have been looking for information on how to make maple syrup, and what it all takes to do it. A successful clinic last year, means it is back for 2014. Attendees will participate in a presentation, "hands on" training of how to make maple syrup and a visit to the woods to see the tapped trees and sap collecting. Topics covered during the clinic will be tapping, tree selection, sap collection and equipment. Also covered are the importance of proper boiling, filtering and bottling. Participants will be firing the evaporator, helping filter, testing the sap with a hydrometer and bottling. Clinic size is limited, so reserve your spot today! This clinic includes classroom, which is around 60 degrees. Working in the syrup shed, which is 90 degrees and humid. And time as well being out in the woods, where the day time temps are in the upper 30's. Participants should dress appropriately, and/or bring additional clothes for the conditions. This is a rain(snow) or shine event. The class size is limited, so advanced registration is necessary. Each clinic is being offered at the price of $30/person which includes handouts, hands-on training and lunch. Just choose which day you'd like to attend: Friday, March 7th or Saturday , March 8th.
