Cinnamon Basil is a beautiful, annual herbaceous plant. Its dark purple stems make a beautiful background for its bright green, small to medium sized leaves. During flowering it will produce small spikes of white - light pinkish flowers. Plant will grown to 24" tall, and can be 12"-24" in circumference.
Also known as Vietnamese or Saigon basil
Cinnamon Basil contains cinnamate, which is what gives cinnamon its flavor.
For culinary use - use the same way as you would any basil, for an exotic flavor. Use a fresh leaf or two in your tea, for a refreshing change!
This herb also smells great in herbal wreaths, smudges and potpourris
Basils are very easy to grow from seed. Direct sow in your garden, in a nice sunny spot with well drained organically amended soil, after all danger of frost has passed in your area. Basils also make great container plants.
Save your own seed: Just let the plant go to flower, let the flowers dry on the plant, then clip off with scissors before the seeds are released. Keep in a cool, dry, dark area (refrigerator or freezer is great) to keep your seed fresh and viable.
One pack contains a minimum of 100 fresh, viable seed organically produced in Zone 7b during the 2014 growing season.
