City Garden Farms

City Garden Farms is an innovative urban produce farm in Portland consisting of a network of small back yard farms in the city. Yes, that's right, we farm sub-acre plots in the city in order to grow ultra-local produce. We farm people's back yards, unused lots, the yards at our own homes, etc. Intensive urban agriculture is an idea that has been around for some time but now the idea is growing due to an interest in things like the expanding 'local food movement', people's desire to connect with the farmers who grow their food and rising fuel/food costs. Also it's been proven that small, intensively farmed plots are many times more productive than conventional farming methods. Taking into consideration increasing food prices, increasing fuel prices and the high productivity of small urban plots it just makes sense to grow food where we live. We sell our produce through a 25 member CSA, at local farmers markets and to a selection of local restaurants.
