In operation since 1857, the City Market is home to the largest Farmers' Market in the region featuring over 140 stalls of vendors offering local, fresh produce, meats, eggs, baked goods, honey, jams & jellies and more! In addition, the City Market is home to 30+ permanent merchants offering a wide variety of wholesale produce, spices, a coffee shop, bakery, Italian deli and market, flowers, jewelry, unique gift items from America, Africa, Europe, the Middle and far East, authentic restaurants, and the Arabia Steamboat Museum, which hosts the largest collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world.

The City Market has an extensive event calendar from April through October including concerts, food celebrations, kids activities, and regular educational classes and demonstratons in the Farm to Table Kitchen, a commercially licensed kitchen that's available to rent by the hour.(more...)

The City Market is located at 20 E. 5th Street.

The City Market is open daily, year round. The Farmers' Market takes place every Saturday and Sunday, year round.

Winter Farmers' Market Hours:
Saturday from 7am-3pm
Sunday from 8am-3pm

Summer Farmers' Market Hours:
Saturday from 6am-3pm
Sunday from 8am-3pm

DIRECTIONS:

From the North:
From I-29 and I-35, follow the signs for I-35 South. Take the Exit 2F-Oak/Grand/Walnut on the right side. Continue on Exit to Walnut Street, turn right (north). Continue driving north on Walnut Street, and you will drive right into the City Market.

From the East:
I-70 West toward Kansas City. Just before entering downtown, follow US highway 24 West about a mile to take Exit 2F-Oak/Grand/Walnut on the right. Exit to Walnut Street, turn right (north) on Walnut Street, and you will drive right into the City Market.

From the South:
North on I-35, north toward Des Moines. Exit on Main Street Exit, 2D onto 6th Street to Walnut Street. Turn left (north) on Walnut Street, go over the bridge and you will drive right into the City Market.

From the West:
I-70 East into Kansas City to Main Street, Exit 2D. Continue east on 6th Street to Walnut Street, turn left (north) on Walnut Street and you will drive right into the City Market.
