Collins Powder Hill Farm

Collins Powder Hill Farm is a fifth generation Dairy farm owned by Jack, Mavis, and John Collins. We are currently milking 75 Holsteins and Jerseys twice a day. All of our cows have names and each has her own unique personality! During the spring, summer and fall months the cows are pastured.

Our family has been in business since the 1900's and has diversified in recent years to compensate for the low price of milk. In 1992 we began Collins Compost, which utilizes cow manure from our farm and leaves collected by the town of Enfield. Collins Compost continues to be an excellent way for us to recycle natural resources and provide customers with a nutrient rich soil stabilizer and conditioner. The compost is sold on the farm or delivered to customers around Connecticut and Southwestern Massachusetts.

In 1997 we built The Collins Creamery, which is now a local hot spot for premium ice cream. The Creamery is now owned and operated by Jack and Mavis' daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Anthony Bellafronte. The Creamery carries 24 flavors of homemade ice cream in addition to soft serve, frozen yogurt, sorbet and sugar free ice cream. Michele and Tony provide farm tours in the spring and summer to school groups upon request.
