COMFREY Symphytum officinale These are the leaves, not the root.
The leaves have long been used for sprains, bruises and to promote the healings of tissue and bone, as well as reducing swelling due to the high content of allantoin, a substance that promotes the growth of tissue, bone and cartilage, both internally and externally. Comfrey does actually binds and holds fractures and broken bones, as well as soothing inflamed and painful tissues. This is due to mucilage, a gelatinous substance.
I would only suggest using comfrey as an external, not internal. It is good in salves, ointments, poultices and I have used it to stop external bleeding.

Come and visit my store for good old fashion, high quality, fresh teas, bath herbs, and just herbs!
For the most part unless mentioned otherwise, each tea bag will make 2 to 3 cups of tea; If loose herb tea, two ounces will make about 23 cups of tea . One ounce of just an herb is about a sandwich bag, and sometimes a little more. If it is a root herb such as burdock root it is heavier, thus an ounce would be about a quarter of a sandwich bag. Comfrey, plantain and nettle leaves would be in a quart size bag.
