Cornflowers (Centaurea cyanus)
Cornflower, other than one of my favorite garden wildflowers, has many wonderful medicinal uses.
The mild astringent and antiseptic qualities make it particularly useful as an eyewash against conjunctivitis and inflammation around the eyes.
In addition, cornflower is often added to shampoos or an infusion used as a hair rinse to help treat eczema of the scalp.
Some herbalists recommend cornflowers used to make a gentle douche for use in cases of candida (yeast infections).
Also one of my favorite flowers used to create a natural blue dye for yarn and cloth dyeing.
Morgan Botanicals herbs and herbal products are hand crafted using only 100% pure botanicals and fresh ingredients. What herbs I don't grow or ethically wildharvest I buy from only reputable organic growers. The Morgan Family owns and operates a three acre apple orchard along with fresh produce and herbs in Tehachapi. I sell locally to businesses, midwives, and have a booth at the local Farmers' Market.
