Our grain products all come from Certified Organic crops. We carry artisanal flour, polenta, grits, meal, and more. And it's not just what you're expecting. Many of these are not only local and organic, but they are made from varieties that were originally used in local kitchens centuries ago. Nearly extinct types of corn, wheat, rice, and other grains have been found on remote family farms and grown out to production levels.
Old Carolina (especially from the Lowcountry) recipes have been researched to discover the precise milling of a specific grain that was used. By this process, you can now get, for example, authentic cake and pastry flours unlike any you've ever tasted and corn meal that makes perfect cornbread, dumplings, and hush puppies. These cook and taste the way they're supposed to with no sacrifices for ease of industrial processing.
It doesn't stop with traditional Southern products, though. We also carry products made from organic Italian farro, French oats, and Japanese buckwheat. We have most of these products custom-milled for Sugarfoot Farms each week, and may occasionally even mill a few products by hand ourselves. A few items are Antebellum Bennecake Flour, Farina di Pizzaiolo (Pizza Flour), Farro Piccolo, Handmade Artisan Fine Polenta, Rustic Aromatic Buckwheat Flour, Carolina Gold Rice Grits, and Trigo Fuerte Flatbread Flour. You'll get at least 12 ounces, often more, of a whole grain, flour, or meal each week, along with instructions for use.
