Milking Kit. All the supplies you will need to take care of your milking chores.
Your order is protected with the LocalHarvest money back guarantee.
You can furnish your own milking supplies or I can provide this kit for you.
You will be responsible to clean your own milking kit and return with it each milking session. You will use my supplies for the first month of your training.
Milking kit contains:
*1 10 gallon Tote
*1 Large Utility Towel hand towel size to soak up spills in the bottom of the tote
*36 Utility Towels for washing hands and udders
You could cut up old towels from home. They are dish cloth size.
*2 Filters for milking bowl-reusable
You could cut up an old white cotton sheet or cloth diapers. I cut on a fold and filter through a double thickness.
*3 half gallon and 1 quart canning jars
*Carrying Bag and 3 separator rags for Jars. A wine bag would be even better.
*Milking machine teat cup and tubing or use community one
*Milking machine bottle lid with fittings or use community one
*Milking Bowl with cover be sure it pours easily
You can find most of these items at home or make substitutions. I was surprised to see how much it cost when I went to purchase things to put 2 kits together.
You can take several weeks to gather your supplies. Plus, it's better to reuse.
Don't forget to bring a cooler with ice bottles to transport your milk home in.
Your adventure is about to begin!
We use natural practices with our animals whenever possible. An herbal wormer is used weekly and antibiotics are only used when a vet confirmed bacterial infection is present. All shareholders will be informed when a problem is found. Test results for goat health and milk safety are available for inspection upon request. Milk is tested by a lab after each kidding, quarterly, and any other time there appears to be an issue. Test results are usually posted in the files section of the CityFarmAustin yahoo group.
