If you would like to sign up please visit our website: www.jbgorganic.com In five short years, our CSA has grown from being the smallest in Austin with only 10 members to now being the largest CSA in Texas, with 800 members! Thank you, Austin! On two beautiful farms we grow certified organic vegetables on a total of 70 acres. Both of our farms are located on fertile river bottom land next to the Colorado River. Year-round (52 weeks) we grow over 75 different types of vegetables and herbs. Many of the varieties we grow are heirloom varieties. We also partner with South Tex Organic and G&S Groves to offer certified organic citrus fruit to members in the winter. **********************Box Contents*******************
Our vegetable CSA shares are usually enough for a family of 2-4 for a week depending on eating habits. The produce included in the CSA box changes weekly, based on what is in season and ready to harvest. Each week the boxes are filled with on average 10-12 organically grown vegetables, fruits and herbs. Free-range eggs from Ringer Family Farm and organic whole bean or ground coffee from Texas Coffee Traders may also be added to your delivery. We keep our members informed with a weekly newsletter (http://jbgorganic.com/blog) which includes a description of the current week's harvest, recipes and advice on vegetable preparation, in addition to farm news and notice of upcoming events. In the Spring and Fall of each year we also have an open house at our farm so you can see where your food is grown and meet the people who produce it. We also periodically have u-pick days and planting parties at the farm for items such as beans and tomatoes, garlic, sweet potatoes, onions and Irish potatoes. ********Works Share********
Our CSA does not have a work requirement, but members are always welcome to contact us if they would like to volunteer or participate in our CSA workshare program (Tues, Wed and Friday 8:00am-1:00pm).
