CSA:   Blue Star Acres / 4B Ranch   (year round)

(7 reviews)

We have been a family co-op for many years . We want to share our blessings and good fortune with our neighbors. We grow many heirloom varieties of tomatoes, when you taste them you'll know why! We are going to be growing a large variety of herbs, veggies & fruits. FAQ: Do I have to be at home for delivery? No, most of our members aren't't home, or if it's a night delivery, asleep. You just leave your cooler in a predetermined, shady spot and we come fill it up. Are you certified organic? No, but we do use organic growing practices. Is everything locally grown? The vast majority of our produce is grown within 1 hundred miles of the CSA. Occasionally, we get a good deal on organic produce that won't grow here- we may make a purchase to divvy up among members. We only use US grown produce , even then. Do you have anything besides veggies & fruit? For an additional charge we offer Raw milk, eggs, naturally smoked meats & pecans. Can we tour the farm? Not to sound unfriendly but, nope! We are a group of small farmers. These are our homes & there\\'s really not much to tour. The growers are just too spread out to make a tour feasible. That's why we deliver. Plus ,well, we're busy! You are invited to to take a peek at the Multiply group site for http:// bluestaracres 4b . multiply . com/ ,so you can see what we\\\\\'re all about! What will be in my delivery? It changes with what is ripe in the gardens at the time. At the time of this question a full share contained-

8 slicer tomatoes (different varieties & heirlooms) , basket grape &/or cherry tomatoes , 8-12 Romas, bunch green onion, 2 ears each-2 types of corn, Bag of Purple Hull Peas, Bag of pinto beans, bag of green beans, red &/or yellow onions, cilantro, dill, sage, rosemary, basil& thyme, 3 bell peppers (yellow , orange, green,or red), 2 large acorn squash or 1 butternut,1 cushaw, 2-3 zuchinni, fingerling potatoes or new potatoes 1 basket strawberies 2 ponderosa lemons limes 4-6 yellow squash jalepeno, serrano, ancho, bonnet, bannana, etc. peppers

This is just some idea of what a full share looks like, It fills a LARGE ice chest fairly full. It changes with what is ripe at the time, sometimes slightly bigger- sometimes a little smaller. 1/2 shares would get 1/2 as much. Can I specify what I get in an order? If you let me know after becoming a member, via e-mail, what your likes/dislikes, allergies, etc. are , I will TRY to accommodate on a FEW items. But , you pretty much get what is in the gardens & ripe at the time. Please feel free to contact me about any questions not addressed on this site. Look forward to hearing from you!
