CSA:   Trogg's Hollow   (June-October)

(5 reviews)

We are now accepting applications for our 2012 CSA shares.

If you are interested in becoming part of our 2012 farm family and receiving a weekly (or bi-weekly) share of wonderfully fresh vegetables read on. Our program will go from mid-June for 18 weeks through October with an extra bonus week if the season has been good. We are hoping to to supply around 30+ shares this year.

Included in membership:

Weekly or bi-weekly shares of fresh naturally grown veggies (Here's an example) Weekly newsletters with wonderful recipes and happenings on the farm First claims to purchase any extra produce for the week Participation in farm events such as our spring meet and greet, composting and canning demos and a shareholder harvest pot luck.

Two share sizes: This year we will be offering two share sizes to better accommodate different appetites and budgets. Full shares will be a weekly 1/2 bushel (17.6 liters) and half shares will be a bi-weekly 1/2 bushel (17.6 liters). Full shares are set up to be enough for a family of 4 for a week, however we have several current full shareholders who are single or couples. Half shares are the same amount but would need to be stretched over two weeks. Half shares work great for anyone that wouldn't be able to get through a 1/2 bushel of fresh veggies in a week.

Pick-up/drop-off sites: Just like last year we'll be doing a pick-up in Elgin at either the home farm or the Elgin Harvest market. Other pick-up/drop-off spots will be determined once we have a better idea of where members are located. Based on current interest we are looking at drop-off spots in Roselle, Glen Ellyn/Wheaton, Sycamore/Dekalb and Wicker Park. It's like this, we can create a pick-up/drop-off site anywhere within reason, as long as we have a willing host with an acceptable location, and at least 5 whole shares each week (any combo of full and half shares) going to that location.

Cost and payment options: We have several options depending on your personal tastes (and finances). We prefer option #1 because it provides the most money upfront to cover our season start costs and it costs you the least. The other options are setup to assure that we have adequate cash flow throughout the season and to breakdown the costs into more easily digestible pieces. This year we will have a $25.00 early-bird discount, no matter the payment option, for those who commit before December 1st, 2011.

Full Shares:

$650.00 in one payment dated 1/1/12. ($625.00 before 12/1/11) $660.00 in two equal payments dated 1/1/12 and 3/1/12. ($635.00 before 12/1/11) $670.00 in four equal payments dated 1/1/12, 3/1/12, 5/1/12 and 7/1/12. ($645.00 before 12/1/11)

Half Shares:

$350.00 in one payment dated 1/1/12. ($325.00 before 12/1/11) $355.00 in two equal payments dated 1/1/12 and 3/1/12. ($330.00 before 12/1/11) $360.00 in four equal payments dated 1/1/12, 3/1/12, 5/1/12 and 7/1/12. ($335.00 before 12/1/11)

We will accept cash or checks for option #1. Please do not send cash in the mail; we need to get that in person. Send all checks when you are notified that your application has been received. For options #2 and #3, your first check should be dated 1/1/12 and the remaining checks should be dated with the dates listed. We will deposit the remaining checks on or after these dates.

Sign up: So, if you¢¯¿½?¢¢¯¿½?¢¯¿½?¦¾¢re still interested in becoming part of the farm family please complete our 2012 sign-up form and submit it to us. We will send you a confirmation email upon receipt and further communication once we have solidified our member list and pick-up/drop-off sites.

Alright, great. Now fill out the form, yeah! Thanks,

Marcy and Trogg
