Cuban Oregano, or Broadleaf Thyme.
Plant is a tender plant and does not tolerate frost. Each fall, we must bring it indoors and winter it over to have more of these delightful leaves the next summer.
Leaves are thick and furry and can reach 6-8 inches across.
This herb is most known as the flavor in Cuban Black Beans. Try sauteing with garlic. Add to beans with bay leaf, salt, pepper and cilantro. It can also be used well with Cuban chopped pork and beef dishes.
