(Lycopersicon esculentum)

This variety has the potential to produce giant sized fruits. Vigorous plants produce large, 1.5 - 2 lb. fruits that can easily reach 6" across. One slice fills up a sandwich easily! Absolutely the best for eating fresh but they are good for canning as well. Beefsteak type fruits have a hearty flavor. This variety won the taste test over all of the other red slicing varieties I grew this year. Fruit sets a bit later than some other varieties so it sometimes takes a bit of patience for these to start producing, depending on the weather.

NOTE: This photo is of the 16 or so inch dinner plate, not the 8 or 12 inch plates. This tomato weighed 2.4 lbs. The photo doesn't show the true size of the tomato very well. I tried to put the timer in the background as a reference point but it didn't help much.
