Dragonfly Farms

Dragonfly Farms is located in beautiful Hanover County, Virginia on 54 acres of established pasture and hay fields and 150 acres of rented pasture. Bruce and Katherine are continuing with the farms history of beef and hay production, along with specialty horse care, and greenhouse growing. Our beef cows are Belted Galloways, which are a heritage breed and are known for producing excellent beef on a grassfed diet. Their long hair coats allow them to be a naturally lean beef which means that they can be successfully raised on pasture. Grassfed beef is higher in healthy Omega-3s and is naturally low in fat. We are also working with Red Angus cattle and trying a cross breeding program for grass finished beef. With the greenhouse on the farm, Bruce is growing vegetables and ornamental greenhouse crops. These are for sale at the farmers markets or from the farm. Dragonfly Farms also has a flock of chickens for their farm fresh, free range eggs and a veterinarian owned and operated lay-up and retirement facility for horses.

I've been fortunate enough to visit Dragonfly Farms, and what a treat that is! They are really doing it right out there. And it shows in the excellent flavor of their grass-fed beef. Highly recommended.

First time I have tried grass fed beef and I thoroughly enjoyed both the steaks and the hamburger. The product was much more tender and flavorful than I had expected. Delicious!

I purchased a beef quarter from Dragonfly farm with some friends, and I have to say I was blown away by the taste of this meat. I'm not a huge red meat consumer, but I liked the idea of supporting a local farm where I could see the animals being raised and know that they were well cared for and healthy.... [more]
