Drake Family Farms is a small family farm, raising award-winning dairy goats of the Saanen, Nubian, and Alpine varieties. What started out as a 4-h project on his parent's historic farm in West Jordan, Utah in 1984, Daniel Drake has increased his herd size to approximately 400 goats with the loving care and attention of a veterinarian (Dan studied veterinary medicine at UC Davis).
While the goats, who all have names, are the stars of the farm, it is their milk which we turn into cheese that keeps the farm going. We make over 8 different varieties of fresh chevre and have just begun production of our first mold-ripened aged cheese we call Glacier -- Glacier was the name of the first goat Dan ever owned. We are proud to be making artisan, farmstead goat cheese in Southern California, and hope we can continue the tradition for many years to come.
