Depicted are two ducklings ~ a Blue Swede and a Cayuga ~ hatched by one of our Local Harvest customers this Spring! We have a flock of about 60 heritage-breed ducks, including Magpies, Khaki Campbells, Runners, Cayugas, Blue Swedish, and Welsh Harlequin. They are allowed to free-range except when confined in breeding groups, and even then we release each group in turn so they can get in plenty of exercise and dabbling! Ducks make wonderful pets ~ gentle and entertaining. And they will lay lots of their large, delicious eggs for you. All of these breeds have proved to be great layers.
