Our small but growing flock of Ameraucana, Cochin, and other old-breed chickens has free range of our farmstead. We are committed to preserving the endangered heritage breeds, and have added 12 rare breeds to our flock, including breeding groups of Blue Andalusians and Spangled Russian Orloffs.
During the growing season, the chickens eat fresh, naturally-grown vegetables from our garden; they forage in the grass year round. They are raised with completely natural methods, free of hormones, antibiotics, and other chemicals.
We supplement the chickens' and ducks' diet with flax seeds to enhance the Omega-3 content of their eggs, kelp for trace minerals, and a tonic of warm water with apple cider vinegar in the winter.
The resulting eggs are rich and delicious, and beautiful in their blue, green, brown and speckled colors. Expect variation in size and color.
You can now specify an order of the blue-green eggs from the Ameraucana hens -- lovely to behold, and perfect for Easter!
We are the only farm I know that never kills any of our chickens (resulting in a lot of pet roosters!).
Our garden seeds, yarns, and nuts make perfect gifts in synergy with our shared goals of environmental protection, sustainability, and food security.
Consider our wide range of heirloom vegetable, herb, and flower seeds as holiday gifts this year ~ grow your own and promote genetic diversity!
