This raw alpaca fiber is a spinner's dream! I was skirting this fiber to send to a mill for processing into yarn, and realized that this would be perfect for a spinner, so I finished skirting and loaded this on my Local Harvest site!
This fiber is from a young female alpaca whose name is Frangelica. As you can see in the picture she has beautiful and consistent crimp and the color is a bright white with lots of shine.

Alpacas produce and provide to us a very soft fiber that is hypoallergenic. Alpacas do not produce lanolin like sheep do, so most people can wear alpaca even if they are allergic to sheep's wool. An alpaca's fiber is soft, light weight, and very warm, making it a very popular natural fiber.
