Ag Against Hunger Glean on Saturday, November 7, 2009
Ag Against Hunger - (Salinas, California)
Ag Against Hunger (AAH) is looking for volunteers to get involved in their gleaning program Saturday, November 7, 2009. Working with local growers, volunteers help collect high quality, marketable produce that has been left behind after commercial harvest. The food they collect is then transported to food banks and pantries in the tri-county area. Volunteers can call the office at 831-755-1480 to find out where the next glean is and where to meet. Volunteers should expect to commit around 3 hours (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) including transportation, orientation and the actual harvesting of crops, for the gleaning session.
Members of the local community are encouraged to sign up to volunteer as part of a group or individually. Please RSVP to Ag Against Hunger at 831-755-1480 or ananda@agagainsthunger.org by noon on Thursday, November 5, 2009.
Ag Against Hunger is a nonprofit agency providing fresh donated produce to food banks in the tri-county area (Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito) and those throughout the State of California. Since 1990, area growers and shippers have donated more than 160 million pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables to help feed the hungry.
