Organic Association of Kentucky Annual Organic Conference. The OAK conference will be held this year at historic Berea College, Berea, KY, March 1-2, 2013. Susana Lein of Salamander Springs Farm, Berea, KY, will teach 2 workshops covering the practice of permaculture in "truly no-till" grain & dry bean production, vegetable/fruit production, and local energy cycling for homesteading & farming.
Keynote & guest will be Atina Diffley organic farmer & author of Turn Here, Sweet Corn: Organic Farming Works.
Pre-conference farm tours for participants of Salamander Springs Farm and the Berea College Farm & Gardens will be held all day Thursday, February 28, followed by a lecture at Berea College by Dr. Vandana Shiva, "Making Peace with the Earth." Dr. Shiva, physicist and internationally renowned activist for agricultural biodiversity and against the globalization and genetic modification of our food & seed.
