"Triumph from Tragedy" Commemorating the Great Depression

Minden will be one of several cities across North Louisiana commemorating the Great Depression during the months of October and November. A variety of special events will include an outdoor showing of "The Grapes of Wrath," a WPA Art Exhibit, A dance marathan worth $1,000 to the last person dancing, a theatre production of "Steal Away" and boarding house dinner with friends ending with a special celebration of our state's oldest resident, Maggie Renfro Thornton, who is also the nation's 5th oldest citizen and the 7th oldest person in the world.
