The Fair Food Matters Can-Do Kitchen is a food business incubator program and commercial kitchen for rent. We provide ongoing guidance for new business owners and connect them to valuable business resources in the community.
We have a low-risk environment in which new business owners can test recipes, their ability to run a food business, and build capacity within their business. Our rate structure is set up to enable businesses to gradually prepare for graduation into their own facility.
We partner with the Small Business Technology and Development Center by sending all of our clients there for free financial and business counseling.
Our facility is registered with the FDA as a low-acid facility as well as with the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
Our goals are to: 1. Incubate new and existing small food businesses 2. Increase the availability of locally-produced food in all types of food markets 3. Facilitate the sharing of cooking skills by providing a lively, affordable kitchen for rent by cooking class instructors
