The Farmer's Market at Alexandria City Hall is thought to be one of the nation's oldest continually operating farmer's markets. Farmers and artists have been selling their products since 1753. The market is open every Saturday morning from 5:30am-10:30am year 'round, rain or shine and features produce vendors, framed art, handicrafts, jewelry and other wearable art, and baked goods. Located approximately 3 blocks from the Potomac River, Torpedo Factory Art Center and 8 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., Alexandria is accessible by car or public transportation (King Street Station on Metro's Yellow and Blue lines).

In addition, a new Water Taxi service and trolley system began operating in Alexandria as of April 1 for visitors to the National Harbor site in Prince George's County, Maryland. (more...)
