Distribution is three times per week: Mondays at 10 a.m., Wednesdays at 7 p.m., and Saturdays at 9 a.m. Everyone comes at the scheduled time and spends about 20 minutes harvesting. The harvest is then shared equally among the members. There is an opportunity to swap produce with the other members and to get items from the "extras & oddities" table so that your share better reflects your tastes. If you like to can or freeze and would like large amounts of certain items, let us know when you sign up and we can talk about what might be possible and at what price. If you will be out of town, you can have a friend get your share, have us donate your share to a local food pantry, or you can swap days if you are a Wednesday person, you can swap with a Saturday person and vice versa. If you are a no-show without notice, the other members will divide your share amongst themselves. We take many measures to make sure you get a good amount of produce. We estimate how much we will need of any given crop, and then plant 25% more than that. Were familiar with the insects and diseases that are likely to occur, and we manage the crops to minimize the impact from them. Members share the risk of bad weather. We use frost covers to extend the season, but occasionally things happen (an unexpected light frost on August 18, 2007 wiped out the string beans). In instances like that, we do not offer a refund this is where the sharing of the risk, the "community supported" agriculture comes into play.
