Johnson's Backyard Garden

(Austin, Texas)

Once again we are farming some of the most productive land in Travis County to grow spinach and a wide diversity of specialty vegetables for Austin residents.

Year-round we grow over 75 different types of vegetables and herbs. Since our produce is picked fresh and does not have to be shipped long distances, we are able to grow varieties that are not found in grocery stores. Many of the varieties we grow are heirloom and heritage varieties. We also partner with certified organic farmers to offer seasonal citrus fruits. Our organic produce is sold to primarily to farm members through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscriptions. We also sell produce at the Saturday Austin Farmers Market and to Austin Restaurants and Whole Foods and Wheatsville Coop.

**********************Box Contents******************* Vegetable CSA shares are usually enough for a family of 2-4 for a week depending on eating habits. The produce included in the CSA box changes weekly, based on what is in season and ready to harvest. Each week the boxes are filled with on average 10-12 seasonal, organically grown vegetables, fruits and herbs. We also periodically have u-pick days at the farm for items such as beans and tomatoes.

Free-range eggs and organic whole bean or ground coffee may also be added to your delivery.

**********************How to Sign-up************************* If you would like to sign-up, please go to our web site.

www.jbgorganic.com

Your membership payment purchases a "share" of our harvest. You choose your choice of a weekly or every-other-week box of seasonal fresh produce.

We keep our members informed with a weekly newsletter (http://jbgorganic.com/blog) which includes a description of the current week's harvest, recipes and advice on vegetable preparation, in addition to farm news and notice of upcoming events.

In the Spring and Fall of each year we also have an open house at our farm so you can see where your food is grown and meet the people who produce it. Our CSA does not have a work requirement, but members are always welcome to contact us if they would like to volunteer or participate in our CSA workshare program.
