Deep Roots Ranch

We are located outside Watsonville, about half an hour south of Santa Cruz on rolling land near the foothills of Mount Madonna. Jean grew up here on this farm that has been in her family for three generations.

In 2003 we came back to the farmstead and started Deep Roots Ranch. To restore the land deep rooted grasses and other forage will be essential.

We raise heritage breeds of chickens for meat and eggs, grass fed lamb and Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs. We raise old traditional breeds of chickens, not the fast growing hybrids that have dominated the market for the past thirty or so years. We will not have meat chickens available for the 2008 season. Eggs and chickens must be picked up on the farm.

Lamb is sold out until 2009. Pork will be available in 2008.
