We are not among the small farmers that reject organic certification because of the perception that the USDA is trying to close down small family farms. Instead, we believe that THE SMALL FAMILY FARMER MUST SEEK ORGANIC CERTIFICATION IN ORDER TO PRESERVE ORGANICS. If the small family farmer abandons organics the only organic producers left will be big agribusiness. We've had six years on this farm raising an organic garden for our family but 2006 was our first year that we could call ourselves "farmers". We have a produce CSA for whom we raise certified organic produce. We have a passive solar and active solar building that is our farm office. We hope to add a certified kitchen in the office soon, so that we can produce value-added products that we can sell to restaurants and through retail stores.

The Promise: I promise to work to protect the earth; to use my resources to further the understanding of natural systems; and to try to help educate others on the importance of saving all life on earth. I believe that we are connected; and that one person can make change. I promise to respect nature, and I seek to attain a balance between order and chaos. I promise to give my children a more healthy land than I received. I promise to respect and learn from all earth's cultures.
