This year Beatrix Farm is in its second season. We are currently operating on a farm in White Post, VA where we lease pasture land for the growing season.
Our birds are raised in clean, bright, open-air brooders where we spread fresh sawdust bedding every day until 3 weeks, at which point they are sent out to pasture. From then on they are kept in movable, floorless pens where they have all the sunshine they want, protection from the elements, access to forage and are moved at least once a day. They are fed a non-medicated grower ration feed in addition to the grass as they cannot survive on pasture alone and it provides them needed vitamins and minerals to keep them healthy.
This year we hope to raise around a 600 birds total.
