We are a real family farm located just 20 miles southwest of Iowa City. Starting in 2003 we began following Joel Salatin's model of sustainable agricultural farming and marketing, as featured in "The Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan. Steve is the 5th generation to live on and farm Highland Vista Farm with Colleen, his bride in 2002. In 2006 Steve left his engineering job to farm full-time, without government subsidies of any kind. We sell Pasture Raised: Beef, Pork and Eggs directly to customers, restaurants and caterers. We raise our animals without the use of hormones or antibiotics. The cattle's diet is pasture grass, also known as Grass Fed.
