At the Blue Schoolhouse, we follow all natural, old fashioned farming principles – no pesticides or herbicides on the plants and no hormones or antibiotics in the chickens and eggs. Instead of using chemicals, we use hand tools and human ingenuity to control insects, weeds, and other pests. We maintain soil fertility and health with cover crops, compost, and rotational plantings. And by picking the produce every few days, we ensure that you get the highest quality fruits and vegetables available. The taste, texture, color, and smell of our carefully tended authentic produce will be far superior to the weeks-old, road weary produce found in the supermarket. We have chosen not to seek official organic certification for several reasons, including the cost and the fact that it has been co-opted by large corporate agricultural interests. (more...)
