Lion's Head Farm

Located in the scenic north-western Catskill Mountains, we raise Porcelain hard neck garlic, a relatively rare variety with the highest level of medicinally active ingredients, and delicious large, long-storing cloves. We sell in markets and by mail order. We offer gourmet tableset garlic as well as prime seed cloves. In 2006 we experienced a 500-year flood in our area which wiped out our garlic. We went scrambling to find acceptable seed, which we planted last Fall and it is growing beautifully. Feb. 2008 note: As with the best plans of mice and men...this year we lost most of our crop due to my emergency surgery in late September (crucial harvest time). We sold locally to restaurants what we did save, and were able to get a few rows planted for seed this year. What (more...)
