Yarrow is one of the easiest herbs to grow, and makes a great first aid item to have around for deep cuts, fevers, and nosebleeds*. It will thrive in great soil and does well at the top of a mountain with nothing but the shade of a rock to survive. You can find it in many yards since it will grow into the lawn if given the chance.
Ingredients: Yarrow flowers & leaves, vodka. I harvest my yarrow on warm sunny days when the oils are at their peak, and infuse them in vodka.
I have heard stories of Japanese hospital workers in Hiroshima taking this herb to rid their bodies of radiation in World War II. I once had an African exchange student help transplant some to the farm, he still asks about how it is growing. It is a really beautiful and graceful plant to have in the garden.
