Downtown Grocery is a neighborhood grocery store located in downtown Wausau, Wisconsin. We're a small grocery store with big ideas to connect place to people! Our store opened July 2006 featuring locally and locally-organically grown, produced or baked food items from a good number of local vendors. We, of course, have out-of-state food partners too because mangos don't grow too well around here. We also feature a selection of conventional items. Our kitchen connects place to people by preparing quality food ingrediants into tasty lunch, dinner and deli items. We'll continue to add local and regional vendors to grow a local food economy: a type of economy that can become more common if more people demand more locally grown and produced food options. Downtown Grocery features a wide selection of produce and groceries: fruits & veggies, milk & eggs, meats & bulk grains, flour & sugar, frozen dinners, canned & boxed goods, chips & nuts, jams & crackers, beer & wine and toilet paper & soap. We prepare ready-to-go lunches (see menu at website) and breads & sweets in our kitchen. We feature breakfast to-go: a bowl of oatmeal, an old-fashioned cup of coffee, biscotti (a traditional Italian cookie,) breakfast burrito, or a tasty piece of fruit.
