At FOOD for Lane County's Youth Farm, limited-income teenagers participate in a summer educational program where they gain skills in organic agriculture, marketing, teamwork and leadership, and learn about the food system and good nutrition. The Youth Farmers assist in growing over 35 different kinds of organic vegetables, over half of which are donated to FOOD for Lane County, the local food bank. The rest is sold by the youth at an on-site and an off-site farmstand during the growing season and through a 50-member Community Supported Agriculture Program.

We welcome volunteers of all ages, and have internships, a mentoring program, and community service hours available. The Youth Farmers also give great farm tours.

Youth grow our produce! We offer work experience and education to low-income teens who grow organic produce for the local food bank and learn skills by assisting in running a 50-member CSA and two farm stands. During the school year, alternative schools bring their students to the farm. We also focus on nutrition and strive to empower low-income youth in avoiding the related societal issues of poverty, obesity, diet-related diseases, and hunger.
