does any one Parelli?    (Posted Tue, Aug 1 '06 at 07:46 UTC)

Have you ever heard of Parelli Natural Horsemanship? It is a lot different way to communicate with a partner(horse) in stead of the "old way". Would like to find more people in central texas interested in creating a horse-partnership.

Yes, I do Parelli! I've almost completely graduated Level 2. You may want to check this PNH yahoo group: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Parellinaturally/

I guess this is a lonely world, just us 2. But maybe it has to do with other people not realizing what all Local Harvest has to offer. I am just now getting in to its depths. Still Parelli-ing.

How funny...a year later...and now there are 3. New to LocalHarvest, not new to Parelli. Are you still here?

Hey y'all! Wow, it's been a long time since I stopped by here.

How are you doing the in Parelli program, Jerseys? I'm currently in college, so don't have much time with my horse anymore...I really miss it. Parelli has done at lot of changing the past few years. The new programs feel foreign to me!

I didn't say it was bad, I'm just not up to date on Parelli's latest things. I know some about it(have friends that are still very involved - even went to the Study Center in November), but haven't had the material in hand to study.

Hi there. Glad to see that you guys/gals are still stopping by here.
Horselover, when you went to the study center in Nov. had they started using the patterns already or did they still incorporate the old stuff, what course did you take or did you?

Jerseys, how far into Parelli are you and what do you plan to do with it if you don't mind me asking, just curious.

I think its cool that you are both here. It gets kind of yuk to me on the other forums, savvy, parellinaturally, etc. It seems all they do is argue about stuff. Hopefully we can chat now and then and be down to earth with all this stuff. I like the LH site so far, still checking it out.

Have a good day.

Re: does any one Parelli?    (Posted Sat, Jan 17 '09 at 09:35 UTC)

hey I have not been to any other Parelli sites (except the official SAVVY CLUB FORUM). But I do hear on there that there are others out there that don't like us. I just recently assessed L1, and passes with flying colors. I am very confident that I could pass L2 easily, but the instructor that I use is not high enough up the ladder to assess L2 yet., so I should have one of my kids film me and send it in.......... I play with MANY L3 tasks, and touch on some L4 "on-line". I have not decided how far I want to go. I home school 4 kids so I do not forsee an easy road ahead if I were to persue professional status.
I am very interested in applying Parelli to driving horses---wagons, plows, buggies....etc...
love to chat horse with ya.

Hi Jerseys
Wow, we are doing almost the same thing...I homeschool my kids, well I still have one and the other one went back to public school this year to check it out and play sports. I am drifting around in the midlevels. I started out with an untrained 4 year old that I did not ride until he was 6. I just had to go in tiny steps and although it took a long time he retained everything and the first ride was a long trail ride and it was great. I was very proud of us, he was so calm and just curious about the whole thing and you would never have known it was his first time out in the big world. I also rode him in the hackamore. I have one horse that is trained to a wagon and I am wanting to do the driving stuff too. The horses are not really a hobby as I am a guide and have used them for all of that so they have to work. as do I, and the "fun" stuff gets put on the back burner more often than not.....but we still plug along at it and enjoy what we do get to do.
Look forward to chatting with you and after the initial OMG I found a person like me I will not be so wordy, maybe. LOL
Have a good day.

Wow what a cool world we live in!!!! So what kind of guide are you? and I assume that with you on Local Harvest you farm of some sort?
Are you a Parelli Savvy Club member? We could get on the chat there...This is weird.

Home school mom of 4 boys. I try to make a little money at the farming, if not make it then at least save some. On the Parelli forum I am farmerchris. We will have to get on the chat some time. Although it is the middle of the day now, (week end) after 8:30 pm week nights is my best computer time.

I raise pigs, grass fed jersey milk and meat, a big garden, and pastured chicken, and heggs from chickens that are loose. I prefer to say"chickens that are loose" insted of "free-range", just because it has become an 'industrial'sounding word to me.
Had a GREAT horse day. Got to play on line with my 1/2 Draft mare--(my #1 girl), then rode bareback just a little, then played with the new mare(who is about 7 months bred)--only had her for about 1 month.

Hi Chris
Sorry it took so long to reply, I had to take full advantage of the great weather.
On the Parelli forum I am KCKat. I looked back on my posts and around 8pm is apparently when I have the most time on the computer too. That is funny, such creatures of habit..LOL...or was it a.m.? I will have to look again.
Its been way too nasty here to do much with the horses. It has been frozen for about a week now but usually its just really cold with enough mud to drown in. Riding at all or doing much of anything is out if you don't have an indoor facility of some sort. Even with barefoot horses the terrain is rough.
I'll try to catch up with you on the Parelli site. Love to compare notes on the homeschool thing sometime too.
Have a good day.

We sure could use some of your rain. I heard the weather man say tonight that it has not rained in 18 days. And that is not to say that we had anything more than a sprinkle then. Dry!! and rollercoaster of temperature. We will have a few days of 30's, then it will jump to the 70's. Back to the 40's and then hit 80. Then go back to 30's at night and 50's in day. I can live with that though. It is better than staying at ANYTHING under 60. I can not take the cold.and 60 is cold to me. On bad weather days I go back and re-watch videos. It is amazing how many times I can watch L1 and L2, and get something new every time!!. L&HB too. I personally like them better than the patterns and SS. But I have them all, so I watch them all over and over and over.

I'm back and I am definitely with you on the weather being crazy. Been catching up on the dvd-watching myself. I know what you mean about seeing the same stuff over and over and still finding something you didn't see before. They say (you know them) that your mind will not get the things you are not ready to process but when you are ready it will appear for you. I have experienced that and its pretty wild because I would swear that I had seen every scrap of info there was.
Also, we have to have things to relate to learning and sometimes I have found that until we experience a particular problem we just gloss over and move on and never really absorb the other info.
Hope you get some rain. We had unbelievable drought here for the last few years and hay was a very pricey commodity when you could find it. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Played with her for the first time today and actually remembered to have a kid video me.........then watched it with the family when we came in....fun. I will have my Parelli Professional watch it with me next week and critique it for me.

Hi,
I am new to this site, and I do parelli with my horse. Love it! Parelli's make it so you love working out of the saddle as much as in the saddle. Sure makes for a great relationship. I have a left brain....really tries to figure things out......gates, latches, etc. So much fun to be with. Glad to see others on here.
